Medication Assisted Treatment Program for Drug Addiction

Research has shown that medications for alcoholism and drug addiction used in conjunction with substance abuse counseling can increase an individual’s ability to successfully maintain abstinence. For qualified patients, Livengrin offers anti-craving medication to provide an added layer of protection against relapse, plus support for those experiencing the struggles of addiction.

Livengrin was an early adopter of Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) using Vivitrol/Naltrexone/Suboxone medications that reduce the urge to consume alcohol and opioids. Used in conjunction with ongoing behavioral rehab therapy, Livengrin offers patients the most effective method to conquer addiction.

Reduced Cravings & Better Outcomes

Naltrexone is taken as a daily oral tablet (Revia). Vivitrol injections are administered monthly. Vivitrol/Naltrexone therapy is shown to reduce cravings for alcohol and opiates. Patients are more likely to stay engaged in treatment and continue in their effort to stay sober. Vivitrol blocks the receptors in the brain so that opiates do not attach and no “high” is experienced. Similarly, alcohol users on Vivitrol report that the “euphoric” effect of drinking is eliminated, often discouraging repeated attempts. Contact Heather Bisca, Director of Detox to learn how MAT is used to treat substance use disorders as well as sustain recovery and prevent overdose.
